September is National Cholesterol Education Month

September is National Cholesterol Education Month, making it the perfect time for patients to know their cholesterol levels.

High blood cholesterol typically has no signs or symptoms but can lead to heart attacks and strokes. Your body needs cholesterol to build healthy cells, but high cholesterol levels can increase your risk of heart disease. High cholesterol can be inherited, but it's often the result of unhealthy lifestyle choices, which make it preventable and treatable.

Infirmary Health's cardiac rehabilitation programs provide patients with a way to recover from cardiovascular disease and the treatments to combat it. Operation BounceBack at Mobile Infirmary was the first program of its kind in Alabama and one of the largest cardiac rehab programs in the nation.
