Symptoms & Risks
How do I know if I have a liver cancer or a metastasis?
The appearance on x-rays, blood test, and a test done on tissue under the microscope from a biopsy can all help doctors determine this. This will vary for each cancer type.
What are symptoms of liver metastasis?
Weight loss, abdominal pain, fatigue, or jaundice can all be symptoms of a problem with the liver. Unfortunately, many times there are no symptoms. The liver can do its job without showing symptoms even when a large portion, sometimes up to 80%, is taken up by cancer. If a patient has a cancer that will commonly spread to the liver, doctors will do a test to help find it as part of the regular visits and follow up for that cancer.
