Is radiation therapy an option for me?

Radiation may be used to control what are called small primary liner tumors in people who can’t have surgery or ablation. Radiation is delivered by stereotactic radiosurgery, a procedure that delivers a few very precisely directed, very high dose treatments. Traditional radiation can be used to give pain relief when other therapies are not used.

What are the side effects of radiation therapy on bile duct cancer?

  • Nausea
  • Diarrhea
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Skin discoloration

Potential but very unlikely late side effects may include:

  • Chronic diarrhea
  • Decreased liver function
